I'm impressed, Erika A, you pull this off! This look however is not doing you any favours.
This blog has been seriously neglected. I have too many internet thingies and I'm too self-involved to keep up with one where it's not solely about me! I'm tempted to turn this into a personal fashion blog.
I started listening to the Horrorpops back in high school when I wore a lot more black eyeliner than I do now. The makeup went but my enthusiasm for the Horrorpops stayed. I'm not really a huge psychobilly fan and I will admit I stuck out like a sore thumb at the venue but I love the Horrorpops for their catchy tunes and Patricia Day's powerful voice.
It was a great show - they played all of my favourites from Hell Yeah! Julia, Miss Take, Psychobitches Outta Hell ... the only irritating part of the night was this guy who must have been drunk/high who was apparently having a lover's spat with this sad-yet-evil looking girl who I assumed was his girlfriend/soon-to-be ex-girlfriend. Having a fight about probably nothing at a concert is a bad idea. Having a fight about probably nothing at the VERY FRONT RIGHT UP AGAINST THE STAGE is an extremely bad idea. Plus, they kept leaving and coming back and it was just so annoying that eventually I grabbed him by the shirt, slapped him across the face and threatened to rip his balls off.
But of course, he came back to retrieve his ipod or whatever other belongings he/his gf left at the front of the stage. I started to feel sorry for him - the leash around his neck was almost visible.
The opening band was the 7 Shot Screamers. They were alright, the only part I really enjoyed was when the vocalist, guitarlist, and bassist all decided to take their shirts off. Sexbomb.
Hi guys, I haven't posted in like a month because it was my birthday and then we went on vacation and then I was so tired from vacation I slept for 43 hours straight!
But I think you can guess what this post is about.

- This photo was not taken by me but it was taken by my new camera, huzzah!
I went to see Does It Offend You, Yeah for my birthday and it was pretty sweet. I was surprised to see that the tickets were sold out at Rotate This because I didn't think they had a huge fanbase in Toronto. But as it turns out, I was misled: I had never been to the Drake Underground and it is tiiiiiny. Like twice the size of my living room tiny.
They played a good show and made some wacky comments about that psycho asian dude who chopped off and sort of ate a juggalo's head on a Greyhound bus. I think I was actually only a little disappointed because for my birthday last year, I got super smashed and went to see Daft Punk. Now THAT was a good show. Oh to be young again ...
I have a lot of links on the side and virtually no descriptions so I am making a post to highlight some of absolute favourite blogs that you should all check out.
In no particular order ...
The Commercial Zone - there are many, many music blogs that offer reviews and free downloads out there but Commercial Zone is one of the best I've come across. A typical post consists of an album cover, a great review, and a youtube music video. It was wonderfully thoughtful to include a video as a sample rather than an mp3 because it's more entertaining and attention-grabbing. Thus, you're likely to expose yourself to more artists and therefore more music in general. Another thing that stands out about Commercial Zone is that it doesn't focus on new music. Albums that are featured were released anywhere from the 70s to just a couple years ago. This is a quality music blog, folks.
Allan's World Music - I actually know Allan from high school and remember the days he was just starting up a blog. He doesn't offer album downloads for the most part but his blog is great for quick mp3s and a refreshingly unpretentious introduction to up and coming bands and album reviews.
Garbage Dress - I remember Zana from livejournal way back in the day and she's always been an inspiration. You can be well-dressed and you can look interesting but it seems to be difficult for most people to combine the two.

Um, way to be awesome.
Hel Looks - some of these outfits are really, really bad but I don't care because they're fun to look at! Also, there's a little blurb about what they're wearing/what they'd describe their style as/where they shop, etc which is nice - most street fashion blogs don't do that. I guess it's enough of a hassle to approach someone, ask them to sign a release, get them to follow you to some photo-friendly location, and take a good picture so that you don't really want to also have to write down a quote.
HRO - who doesn't like Hipster Runoff? Besides the gr8 posts and kute fotos of alt azns, I'm also incredibly intrigued by Carles. Who is he? What does he do? Is he actually 93487593 different people writing under one name? What does he look like? Is he alternative? Is he azn? Is he a blipster? Is he single?
Okay, so he didn't actually say that. But he might as well have. Who stands up STEPHEN MALKMUS AND THE JICKS?! Man, I was pretty pumped to see Fleet Foxes and was highly disappointed to see that they had been hastily replaced with the kindhearted, but awkward-sounding Torontonian Still Life Still.
"Save your get-well cards, no one is ill. I think they just had a long drive or something. Because you know, we've never played a show after a long drive." Joanna Bolme said that (actually).
Malkmus still looks like a fun-loving teenager at 42. They played a good show but the diehard Pavement fan inside me was not-so-secretly hoping for after the glow, the scene, the stage, the set etc.

Sorry, I wish I was a better photographer too. Who wants to buy me a new camera?
